Statue of Freedom

Statue of Freedom, U.S. Capitol Building
Washington, D.C.
July 2007 - August 2007
About the project
This project involved maintenance of the Statue of Freedom on the U.S. Capitol Building. The scaffold is erected every two years so that the statue can be waxed and inspected. The bronze is protected from corrosion with a coating of a special lacquer, which needs to be renewed periodically. When not in use, the scaffolding is stored at the top of the dome.
