Portland Tanker Pier

Portland Tanker Pier
Portland, ME
October 2006 December 2006
About the project
The 1,000-foot long pier is used as an offloading station for oil tankers bringing crude oil to the US markets. The owner of the pier needed an access platform that would allow them to contain the platform for painting and maintenance activity.
The access platforms were built on barges and moved under the pier. Once they were at the desired location, chain falls were used to raise them into position. A frame for containment was provided along with drainage hoppers to allow for the collection of the water blast byproduct.
